Joshua Reuben Kwesi Boateng Silverstein

Los Angeles Native Joshua Silverstein has been impacting the creative arts scene for some time now. He has enriched this community through many media such as visual art, theater, poetry, and beatboxing. While being a vessel for Jazz, Funk, Blues and Soul, through time Joshua has graciously earned the title as the “hardest working beatboxer in LA”.  Joshua’s talents have allowed him to further his travels including Kuwait, where he, alongside Gina Loring and Brandon Coleman, were the first American Hip Hop artists to perform there under the US Embassy. He also performed for 2003’s Panifest which took place in Ghana, West Africa. In 2005 Joshua completed touring for Norman Lear’s “Declare Yourself”, a nonpartisan tour rallying the American people to register and vote.

Alongside host Joe Hernandez-Kolski and DJ Jedi, Joshua co-hosts and facilitates Downbeat 720, Santa Monica’s premier open-mic for high school students. Joshua and Joe also star in their self-written two-man show, So Fresh & So Clean: a show that combines music, comedy and poetry in a hilarious and crude voyage through the male psyche.  Additionally, Joshua is the producer and host of a multi-faceted experience, REFLECTION. This monthly event, taking place at Zanzibar in Santa Monica, features talented artists and a vast array of creativity including poetry, music, visual art and dance. You can also catch Joshua hosting and DJ-ing at self produced, The LOVE-IN @ Angel’s Piano Bar and Supper Club in Santa Monica. Currently he is working on his own album titled “Peace of Mine. A Joshua Compilation” which is due to be released this year.
